Built to be shared

Coffee as a reason to gather, connect, and slow down together.

Trailhead experiences are about showing up. In communities. On trails. At events. Wherever people come together over a good cup.

How we show up

We believe experiences should feel simple and welcoming. No pressure. No hard selling. Just good coffee and good people.

If you're building something, celebrating something, or bringing people together, we'd love to be part of it.

The Outpost

The Outpost is a secret club that anyone can join.
You just have to pay attention.

We post a location on Instagram.
You find it. You show up.

It’s something we do from time to time.
We make coffee. People hang around longer than they planned to.

There’s no storefront. No schedule.
Just a few hours, a good cup, and the chance to slow down and talk to someone new.

Fundraising

We partner with teams, schools, and local groups to raise money through coffee — bringing people together while supporting something that matters.

About

How it started

There's a log on the West Coast Trail with a view of the Pacific. That's where this began.

I was backpacking with my family — my son, my daughter, my wife. He was fourteen at the time. She was eleven. We were a few days in, tired in a good way, watching the sunset over the ocean.

My son looked at the view and said, "You should start a coffee company called Trailhead."

I wasn't roasting yet. Coffee was a hobby. But he was right.

A few years later, Trailhead Coffee exists. I roast in a garage in Edmonton, on a small Mill City roaster. The cart goes out to markets and pop-ups. The blends carry the story of that trail and the trails since.

Who's behind it

Trailhead is run by me — Chris Finch. Solo for now. I learned to roast through Mill City Roasters and a lot of mistakes in my garage. I work a job alongside this, and Trailhead fits into the rest of life — early mornings, weekends, between shifts.

The whole brand is built around an idea I keep coming back to: the best moments are the ones you slow down for. A cup of coffee is one of the easiest ways to do that.

What we make

Three lines of coffee, all roasted in Edmonton in small batches.

Our blends each carry a story:

  • Backcountry — a three-region blend built like a long trail
  • West Coast Trail — named for the place this all started
  • Madre Tierra — a blend of coffees grown by women, with a portion of every bag supporting women in our community

Our single origins come from farms we've chosen carefully: a women-led farm in Costa Rica that I've personally visited, a small organic co-op in Peru, a classic washed Yirgacheffe from Ethiopia. We rotate as the seasons change.

The Outpost

The Outpost is what we call the pop-ups we do around Edmonton. We post a location on Instagram. You find it. You show up.

We make coffee. People hang around longer than they planned to.

No storefront. No schedule. Just a few hours, a good cup, and the chance to slow down and talk to someone new.

Where to find us

At the Terwillegar Farmers Market when we're set up.
At The Outpost when we post one.
On Instagram for everything else.
And here, for coffee shipped fresh from Edmonton anywhere in Canada.

If you're building something, celebrating something, or bringing people together, we'd love to be part of it.
